Below are the statements which were sent in from candidates running for the 2023 election for 2024 Board of Directors

Hi members, I am Steve Andrada and this coming season will be my 6th year here at PCYC. I am sorry to have missed the November meeting but Karen & I were on vacation. We have a Mainship Pilot 30 named Sundance and are looking forward to another year of boating based here in Salem.

I am running for a seat on the Board of Directors because during my 6 years as a club member, I have gotten to know many of you and enjoy all the club has to offer. I believe that my decades of experience in boating and years of running my own business could be assets to the club.

I have been boating my whole life at many places and when we discovered Palmer’s Cove Yacht Club, we knew that this would be the place for us. We enjoy how everyone chips in to make the club a success. While we all have a lot of different opinions about how the club should operate, we also have mutual respect for one another. The bottomline is that this is a great club with social events, good people, open access to the ocean, all at a reasonable cost.

Please cast your vote for me on the Board of Directors. I promise to listen to all members and do my best to help the club continue to operate fairly and smoothly. I live right around the corner in Peabody, am 90% retired from work as a video producer so I have a lot of flexibility to visit the club often. I am always willing to help out and represent your interests.

Thank you for your consideration.

Dear Members,

Thank you for taking a minute to read why I’m asking for your vote in this year’s PCYC elections. First and foremost, I want to say how proud I am to be a member of Palmer’s Cove Yacht Club. Second, I want to thank the membership for making me and my wife Una feel so welcomed. We’ve lived in Salem for over 20 years and joined the club in March, 2022.

Since joining we’ve had the fortune of purchasing our first boat (“Sparty”) and have enjoyed meeting and learning from the members while also participating in a lot of fun events.

That brings me to why I am running for a Director position on the Board. I'm determined to see the club move forward successfully. I will be an active listener (aka Your Voice) and liaise with club leadership to help maintain successful operations. My goal is to provide fresh experiences as well as take advantage of the history and knowledge base from our long time members.

Thank you for your consideration and vote!

Good evening, my name is Mark Belanger and I'm running for a seat on the board of directors.

A little about me...

I've been a member of Palmer's cove for 24 years joining in 1999. I co-chaired the marina committee starting in 2015 for a total of 4 years. A few things I take great pride in are the extensive marina repairs needed after the harbor froze over in 2015, the replacement of the breakwater in 2016 and the re-location of the Witch Way ramp this past spring.

I'd like to start by commending the board both past and present for their efforts in rebuilding the membership to what it is today. It is the members that make this club possible. I'd also like to thank them for their hard work in making Palmer's Cove financially healthy. Two big efforts I want to see continue. I feel it's important to spend money wisely whether it be improvements to the building and grounds, equipment purchases or upgrades to the marina. If elected, I will do my part to do what's best for the club as a whole and to represent all members new and old.
Please consider my name when voting this year.

Thank you!

Hello, my name is Scott Fleet and I am running to be part of the board as one of the directors in this year’s election.

I’ve been boating for most of my life, starting as a kid growing up in Swampscott. My early adult years were spent boating in Falmouth and the Vineyard on a boat I shared with my father. I’ve been boating in the Salem area for the last ten years. I was a member at another local club, but quickly realized that Palmer’s Cove was where I wanted to be.

This is my fourth year as a member of PCYC. In that time I have been actively involved in the club, taking part in club activities, and all the club has to offer to members. I decided that I wanted to be more involved at the club this past season and was glad to have the opportunity to be dockmaster. I am looking forward to doing it again next year.

In addition to my dockmaster duties, I am interested in being part of the board, learning the inner workings of the club and what it takes to make the club run on a daily basis. I believe that I am well-suited to serve on the board and that’s why I am asking for your vote. Thank you!

Hello fellow member , I’m Fred Pfeil, and I am running for the position of director.

I have been a member for 17 years.

During this time, I have served as rear commodore, fleet captain twice, been on the slip assignment committee for 7 years and ran last year's slip assignment day which included 32 total slip changes.

I have held the position of director for the last 2 years.

Some of my accomplishments from last year include acquiring an engine for the launch, as well as rigging and maintaining it.

Additionally, I initiated a system to start replacing the worn-out dock carts with new ones.

I would like to continue working for you and the club as a director and would appreciate your vote.

Thank you.

Vote for Rich Morneau - Board of Directors for 2024

I would like to start by thanking the membership for the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors for 2023. I have been a member of PCYC for 50 years and I have served the membership for many of those years. The leadership and the membership of the club over those many years, have guided this club into what we have today: the finest club on the east coast.

I have been given opportunity to serve as Commodore 6 times and I am thankful for the confidence you’ve shown in me. In my time as an officer and as a director, I have worked with committees on the many major projects here at PCYC: including land purchases, equipment purchases and interior and exterior improvements. I have worked with many different officers and board members over those years. I have the experience and the knowledge of the club’s day to day operation as well as issues we regularly address through the calendar year. I will continue to work hard and listen to what the members have to say.

I would like to continue to be part of the direction the club is heading in and for that reason I am asking for your vote on election day, December 8TH.

I am # 6 on your ballot.

I wish you all a Happy Holiday Season.

Thank you, Rich Morneau
